Helping Every Student Reach Their Potential

AI-powered assessments and mastery tracking that create the urgency students need to succeed — without relying on self-discipline.

The Problem: Students Are Not Reaching Their Potential

I was that student. Most mornings after a starchy breakfast, I’d nod off during first period — a blood sugar crash the school didn’t plan for. When I was awake, my mind drifted elsewhere. There was no immediate cost to zoning out. I told myself I’d revise later. Later never came. By exam time, the revision pile was overwhelming. I either gave up or only revised what I already knew — reinforcing strengths while ignoring weaknesses. I was not uniquely lazy. 80% of students follow this same pattern.

of students never reach their academic potential

3 Root Causes

No immediate consequence for not paying attention
Students can zone out with zero penalty. Adults face immediate consequences for inaction — students don’t.
Overwhelm at exam time
By the time exams arrive, the revision pile is too large. Students either give up or only revise what they already know.
Revision bias toward known topics
Students naturally revise what feels comfortable — reinforcing strengths while leaving weaknesses unaddressed.

Why the Obvious Solution Doesn’t Work

Frequent small tests per topic is the proven solution. Every educator knows it. Nobody does it at scale — because it creates two new problems.

The EduXal Solution

Removes teacher overload. Implements proven frequent assessment. Personalises every re-assessment.

1 Generate Assessment Teacher selects class + topic, generates a short test in seconds.
2 Print & Invigilate Printed paper test under exam conditions — not homework, can’t be copied.
3 Scan Papers Teacher collects papers and scans them through EduXal.
4 AI Marks Everything AI marks every paper, records per-student per-topic mastery, flags failures.
5 Instant Results Teacher sees results immediately. Struggling students get targeted revision.
6 Personalised Re-Assessment EduXal generates unique questions per student based on their exact failure patterns.

Why Now, Why Us

AI vision models can now reliably read and mark handwritten exam answers at a cost viable for per-student SaaS pricing. This was not possible three years ago.
EduXal tested and confirmed AI marking accuracy in a real Kenyan school context. The technology works — and the cost has dropped to where unit economics are strong.
The founder was a Kenyan student who lived through the exact failure patterns EduXal is designed to solve — not a technologist who read a report.
Every product decision — from invigilated paper tests to individual re-assessment — comes from direct experience of what actually fails students.
The single biggest EdTech adoption blocker in emerging markets is hardware cost. EduXal bypasses this entirely: tests are printed, answered on paper, scanned by the teacher.
Removing the hardware barrier means deployment into any school in Kenya — private, public, rural, or urban — with zero capital requirement from the school.
Kenya has many EdTech products. None combine all four pillars simultaneously. No product AI-marks handwritten papers and generates individual re-assessments per student.
Private schools in Kenya are high-trust, relationship-driven environments. Once EduXal is embedded in a school’s workflow, switching cost is high and the data advantage compounds.
EduXal provides CRM-style school management built with partner schools. An Mpesa integration for automated fee collection is in development.
The more of a school’s operations run through EduXal, the harder to switch — and the more data on student performance, operations, and fee history EduXal holds.
Stage 1: KES 2,000/student/term — confirmed. Stage 2: ~KES 1,500 — estimated after current optimisations (not yet benchmarked). Stage 3: ~KES 700 — self-hosted open-source AI target.
The price to schools stays fixed at KES 3,000. Only the cost drops. Margin improvement is entirely within EduXal’s control — no pricing power required from the market.
Instead of per-student fees upfront, the pilot charges KES 100K/term for ≤200 students; KES 150K–200K for 300–400. Schools that have paid are motivated to make it work.
This generates the outcome data needed to validate per-student pricing for full rollout — turning every pilot into a case study and a reference sale.
Path to government partnerships: Validated in private schools → Track record + data → Ministry-level contracts across Africa

The Vision: Revolutionising African Education

Expand from Kenya to the entire African continent Starting with Kenya’s 15M+ school-going population, EduXal expands country by country across 54 nations. Africa represents the largest untapped education market on Earth.
Partner with governments, integrate with each national curriculum Government partnerships unlock public school systems, multiplying the addressable market 10x or more. Each curriculum integration creates a permanent data moat competitors cannot replicate.
Hire the best teachers per country to build high-quality question banks Country-specific question banks built by elite teachers ensure cultural and curricular accuracy. This distributed content model scales without relying on a single team.
Let AI handle creation, marking, grading, and mastery tracking at continent scale Once the AI infrastructure is built, the marginal cost of serving an additional student approaches zero. A single platform supports 600M+ students across all 54 countries.
Move from a school tool to the operating system of African education When EduXal manages assessments, results, progression, and fee collection across millions of students, it becomes the default infrastructure layer for African education.
“Why should the Education system remain limited by a ceiling we couldn’t breach 50 years ago? The world is evolving. Education must evolve with it.”
